Pamukkale-Hierapolis, world heritage s.1988
The "cotton castle" of Pamukkale is located in the south west of Turkey. On top of this white travertine mountain lays Hierapolis, an ancient greek city. This natural and built world heritage site hosts hot springs that have been used as a spa since the 2nd century b.C.
We had the chance to swim in one of the pools conditioned for visitors, with lots of greek and roman items underwater for the curious diver to see.
The theater from roman times, the baths and the tombs are a few of the main sights. If you want to take a look to the rest, give an eye to our photo album here.
